Quick tips on making your home nice.

Smells

Do you have an animal?  Make sure you have room deodorizers in most of the rooms.  Especially in the foyer and kitchen.  Vacuum often at least twice a week. Use fresheners.  Pet smells are a turn off like just like old smoking cigarettes smells.

It shows you don't care when it smells like a kennel or a stinky gym locker.  If you can't smell a close friend to tell you the truth.

True Colors.
Any new room can be made comfy with a new coat of paint. Choose warm colors for rooms you will be relaxing in, and cool colors for offices and bathrooms.

Pay Attention to Light.
Does your new home have a great window that lets in beautiful light? Or maybe you have a sliding glass door that gives you a great view. Be sure to keep these spaces open and unblocked.  Outside make sure your windows are clean.

Curtains.
Go with some pretty, simple curtains. Use white to match with everything, or pick a color that you know would brighten up the room. Make sure the curtain rod is a current design.

Simplify.
Throw out any extra items you haven't used in a long time. Or duplicates - donate or give away.

Rugs and Carpets.
Find a nice simple rug to save your carpet. A vibrant rug can add a splash of color to any room. New Bath mats make a good impression.

Simple Oversized Mats + Simple Frame
Instead of a posed Department Store picture, choose a candid action shot. Buy an oversized Mat and simple frame. Try this in two's and three's. It's a great way to dress up a lonely wall.

Lawn and Outside on the property

Trim the flowers and bushes.  Make sure it is nice and tidy.  It's one of the first impressions of your home.

Mow your lawn and edge to make it look perfect.  Water the lawn 30 to 45 minutes before the showing.  Makes

the lawn sparkle.  Keep your hoses rolled up or put in the garage or shed.

If you have small children, keep the outside toys picked up.

Trees, Plants and Flowers.
Use your interior decorating eye and find the perfect places for some potted plants and flowers. Instead throwing out withering flowers, hang them upside down and dry them for a great wall piece.  Colorful, bright flowers near the front door, make a good first impression during the spring and summer months.  In the fall, put some every green in nice bright pots.  Rosemary smells good. Trim the tree canapies, to let the light in through the trees.

Driveway and Walkways

Make sure to repair big cracks in the drive and walkways.  If you have your house numbers - shine them up if they are

brass, or repainted the numbers on the curb.

Doorway

Keep your door nicely painted.  Change the door knob if it's old looking or broken.  The door must be in working order.

Postal/Mail Box

Keep it painted or buy a new one.
